Answers in Genesis (AiG)
Doctrinal basis. Its Statement of Faith holds that the 66 books of the Bible are the unique written Word of God, that creation took six consecutive 24-hour days about 4,000 years before Christ, and that Noah’s flood was global and shaped most of the fossil record.
Points to weigh
- Answers in Genesis holds a young-earth, six-day, global-flood position and says that day-age and progressive-creation views are incompatible with Scripture. The standard scientific view dates the earth at about 4.5 billion years, which AiG rejects.
- Position of reformededucation.org: Genesis 1 describes six ordinary days of creation, and reading it any other way misses the point of the passage. The Westminster Confession says God made the world ‘in the space of six days’ (IV.1). Be aware that the PCA’s 2000 and the OPC’s 2004 study reports on creation allowed a range of views within those churches.
- Not confessionally Reformed: AiG describes itself as nondenominational.
Classification and points to weigh are reformededucation.org's judgments from the sources listed below. They describe and do not endorse; confirm current details with the institution.
